Advice

When I first started out collecting I was the only person I knew collecting and didn't think that anyone else would collect them so I didn't think of them as much. But once I started collecting I kept getting side tracked by the value of them becuase I went to a site and found the values I just had to make a quick buck. Doing this I went through many hard ships trying to only find expensive cars instead of the ones I truly wanted to collect. I am writing this so that all you beginners and not so beginners can start off right and have a truly fun time collecting.

My first point of advice is that you should only collect the cars you like not the ones that are valuable. I say this because I know from experience that it is more fun to sit in front of your collectiong and think to yourself that a certain car is truly a work of art, instead of saying hey I could make a 5 bucks if I sold that car. Another thing is to not scalp(taking all of a certain type of car to resell). This is a unwritten rule but if a fellow collector sees you doing this then they will probobly not want to share any advice and will try hard to treat you like crap.

My second point of advice I would like to bring to you is that who cares what other people think about your hobby. Yes sure people will make fun of you for collecting hot wheels and call you child but it is better then sitting around the house doing nothing. Also in the store if you see someone coming that you know and your looking for hot wheels don't walk away and pretend you don't collect. Also don't just look at the first layer of hot wheels instead move a couple and look at the cars at the back of the rack.
